play the role of a magician in a B fantasy movie.
Because it all comes from scholars/bookworms,

sounds an extreme criticism. you're talking technics.
I'll evaluate for technics only and accept generalization.

Kabbalah/Qabalah,

Jewish and/or Hermetic culture and some forms of mysticism.

Western ritual magick, Hermetics, ...
Eastern mysticism,

again mysticism as applied within magic.

folk magick,

this is clean and pure magic. anyone mastering folk magic
is a magician. no further inquiry need be made to the
newsgroup FAQ. your statement is plainly false.

"Sid" holds himself to a different standard than he holds other
people. When asked to back up his own claims, he expresses contempt
for mere "physical evidence" even as he demands it of others.

Not to mention an idiot.

One doesn't need magic to make a bird fly. Mostly they do it all by
themselves. However, it's typical for people who like to delude
themselves that they have magical powers to try and take credit for
stuff that happens all by itself.

Now, if Sid wants to tell us he can make a pig fly, that's a
demonstration of magic power that I'd like to see. No fair using a
catapult. (Which would probably also be worth seeing, come to think
of it.)
